July 15 Going in the water

We are in the water!
This photo show the boat we hit and how we must back up turning to starboard while missing the lift structure with the port side of the bow.
Later today we will have final allignment made then do sea trials for an hour to make sure all is working well. if that is OK we will proceed with our trip.
We are fortunate to have Gary and Lenore Timm with us for moral support and to make the crossing of Cape Caution with.
Thank you Gary and Lenore for hanging with us.!

  1. OMG!!! What a story, no a nightmare! Definitely NOT the adventure you were hoping to have.

Glad you are back on the water and hopefully about to re-start your cruising adventures.

I hadn't thought about it but yes indeed, I believe you have bothe the Golden Shovel and Screw Up Awards locked in. Hey if you have to get them, do it with class and style.

We're standing by and looking forward to more stories about your 'going north' adventures.

Take care, and please watch your charts and keep an eye out for logs.

  2. Just a thought here, if the filters were actually changed when you got it then you have some really dirty fuel tanks. do you have a fuel polishing system? If not you might want to keep an eye on those filters to see how quickly you foul them again. dirty fuel could have been the problem that damaged the engine????

So was it a charted rock? does it have a new name, Matheson reef?

I can hardly wait to hear Cheryls version. I bet she has a bit of color to help fill in the blank spots.
